Encuentros Retail | Caroline Corti: The Comfort of Knowing You’re Buying Well

In the third episode of Encuentros Retail, Caroline Corti, Vice CEO of Aldi Spain, shares her perspective on the company’s growth, the evolution of  retail and the challenge of adapting an international business model to the needs of Spanish consumers. After more than thirteen years at Aldi and experience across several areas of the business, Corti offers a unique perspective on the company’s evolution and the factors behind its continued growth in Spain.

Aldi is experiencing strong growth in Spain, with more than 500 stores and a strategy focused on further expanding its presence while strengthening customer loyalty. For Corti, the key is to stay true to the business model: clear values, highly efficient processes and a constant drive to improve. At the same time, Aldi has gradually adapted its model to the specific needs of Spanish consumers, particularly in grocery retail, where shopping habits and preferences are closely connected to local culture.

The shopping exeperince starts in the shop

This evolution is also reflected in Aldi’s stores. While the company remains committed to a focused product range as a core part of its business model, its stores have evolved to make shopping easier and more enjoyable, with brighter, more spacious and open layouts. The aim is simple: to help customers find what they need and complete their shopping easily and comfortably. For Caroline, balancing efficiency with a positive shopping experience is essential to growing while staying true to what defines Aldi.

People and the challenges ahead

People are also at the heart of Corti’s vision. Listening to store teams and acting on their feedback helps Aldi identify opportunities for improvement and adapt areas such as its product range. Looking ahead, she identifies uncertainty as one of the biggest challenges facing the sector, alongside absenteeism in the Spanish retail market.

In an increasingly unpredictable environment, her message is clear: sustainable growth means staying true to your values, continually improving what you do and adapting to the changing needs of both customers and employees.
