Welcome to Day 4 of Moti’s 8 Days of Christmas!

Our office mascot and little helper, Moti, has been busy creating some fun content for this year’s festive period!

As a team that works across multiple locations worldwide, with some employees based in both our offices and at home we know we have to come up with fun and new ways to ensure we maintain a sense of community. We always host in-person Christmas dinners to celebrate the end of the year, but this year we decided to have a company-wide celebration too!

From Cuba to Portugal, England to Spain, the call brought us all together for an afternoon of light-hearted fun. We played some games, shared festive stories and traditions and as you can see, a great time was had by all – a new Motivait tradition has been born!

Ideas to engage remote teams during the festive period:

1. Host a festive virtual call

Engage employees, no matter where they are based, by engaging them in a festive call. Include games, set some boundaries and a theme (Christmas jumpers or hats perhaps…) and make sure employees are aware they are to use the time to switch off from work and enjoy their time with their fellow colleagues!

2. Festive ‘Guess Who’

Ask team members to share their typical Holiday traditions, and get the other employees to guess whose tradition is who’s. Encourage employees to share fun or obscure (and safe for work) stories! This game can be run over Teams, email or on a call, it just takes a bit of planning…

3. Create a fun video

If your team would be up for a bit of a laugh, ask colleagues to submit funny videos which you can edit together easily to create a team Festive Video! You can use a variety of formats, whatever would work for your team, you could sing along to a festive tune (‘On the first day of Christmas’ anyone…?), throw a festive item between colleagues, or each speaks a line of a festive poem.

4. Host a festive quiz

Now, who doesn’t like a quiz…. You can break away from the tradition of having one quiz master, by asking each employee, or team (depending on numbers) to bring a couple of questions each, this way everyone gets involved! Keep an eye out on Moti’s 8 Days of Christmas as there MAY be something to help you coming up…

5. Ask colleagues to bring (or share recipes for) a festive treat from their culture.

If you are office based, you could ask your colleagues to bring in delicious Kolaczki Cookies from Poland, Mince Pies from England or tasty Turrón from Spain. If your team is remote however, sharing these recipes can be just as engaging! This is a great way to get to know colleagues and also get to experience some culinary delights. If your team has a competitive side, why not add a scoring system to find out who brought in the tastiest treats?
