Interactive digital solutions to enhance the student learning experience

Online educational tools come in all shapes and sizes nowadays. The most effective and impactful seek to do more than just digitalise or upload content into an online space. The methods that tend to resonate best with learners, are those that recognise different needs and attention spans, that adapt materials into varied formats, and that build an engaging and sustainable experience to keep nudging and encouraging the student along.

Learning doesn’t have to be reading, and we’ve found that people taking part in digital solutions enjoy the process more and absorb materials better when you combine familiar approaches with the agility, flexibility and possibilities that come with technology. By setting challenges, embedding surprises, and immersing the individual in a richer learning experience, you can bring materials to life and put theory into practice – with exciting results.

Building cohort identity and teamworking skills

The custom-designed digital simulation for Academic and Professional Skill Development (BUS1016), a core module of the Business Management Programme aims to address issues previously identified in the module. These issues include promoting teamwork, enhancing students’ proficiency in digital tools, applying knowledge from other modules, and increasing awareness of interconnectedness. The simulation was specifically created for the year 22/23 to offer a tailored learning experience to students.

A web-based simulation solution, accessible on mobile, tablet and desktop, that combines theory-based content with practical business simulation exercises. Students are placed in a fictitious company and work in teams to complete challenges related to the company’s operations and products. By completing these challenges, students will enhance their communication and collaboration skills, as well as gain practical experience in independent learning and decision-making relevant to future employment opportunities. The solution can continue to evolve and meet new requirements while being shaped by feedback and experiences.
